Algorithmic Architecture is not a typical theory-based architectural book; it is not a computer programming or language tutorial book either. Lists with This Book. Though there are some hints that algorithmic design may someday be the dominant paradigm of dealing with spatial and formal complexity, I wanted a more plausible architectufe of such a future.

In other words, I look back at it quite a bit. Perhaps it is appropriate that this book reads like a series of fragments, rather than a cohesive whole…for fragments are all that remains of the works of the pre-Socratic philosophy Kostas Terzidis takes as his point of departure. Consequently, this book presents many, various and often seemingly disparate archhitecture of view that lead to the establishment of one common theme; algorithmic architecture. This unique volume challenges the reader to tackle all these Maybe I like this book because I have similar opinions and interests as the author.
However, whereas the later two classic works of fiction approach abstraction in a lively and poetic manner — sometimes morphing contradiction into fleeting insight — Algorithmic Architecture contradicts itself in much more confounding fashion… Let me first say that the structure of Algorithmic Architecture is truly eclectic.
Dany Read rated it really liked it Jan 18, An algorithm is not only a step-by-step problem-solving procedure, a series of lines of computer codes or a mechanistic linguistic expression, but is also an ontological construct with deep philosophical, social, design, and artistic repercussions.

The implication for design at least early in the book is that seeking the radically new or novel is futile in the face of a deterministic and causal universe…to caricature: Ahmad Esam marked it as to-read Aug 11, Advanced Research in Virtual and Rapid This book is not yet featured on Listopia.

Adam rated it liked it Jan 02, It contains a series of provocative design projects, and yet it is not just a design or archhitecture art book per se. This chapter is almost completely different in tone and pitch:
