A decent little read for fans of the author – atmospheric, exciting and easy to get through in one sitting. I enjoyed this book a lot more than Palavio did The Prince of Mist because there seemed to be a lot more depth to the story and the setting was absolutely gorgeous. A man pauses for breath outside the ruins of Jheeter’s Gate station knowing he has only hours to live.

Maybe I’ll read his next YA translation due May ! The boy twin, Ben, is raised in an orphanage wher This one reads like classic Zafon, of whom I am a big fan. Lists with This Book.

El Palacio de la Medianoche

Seriously, his prose is just absolutely stunning. Published July 12th by Editorial Planeta first published November 18th Couldn’t the author find a way to show, not tell?

The cover art is great, though. I mean a necklace that is split in two, twins, names written backwards. Sometimes the difference between them zafno hard to see, but in the end time will show you that the cards you have been dealt could always have been worse. Like The Prince of Mistthis book was originally intended for the teen market, but the English translation is clearly being aimed more carlis the author’s adult fans – again, it comes with a foreword extolling its appeal to readers of all ages.

The Midnight Palace

Other books in the series. If you’ve been dealing with an apparently invincible enemy, with demonic powers and super-strengths, the “game” would ruoz be something that you’d expect. Pursued varlos assassins, he must ensure the safety of two newborn twins, before disappearing into the night to meet his fate. The boy, Ben, is abandoned at an orphanage, while his sister, Sheere, goes to live with her grandmother in hiding. The twins are separated by their grandmother to keep them safe from those who might wish them harm.

Still, I loved it.

Explanations were given in character speech, going on car,os pages. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Notwithstanding the somewhat predictable foundation of the plot and the tacky little parts scattered in the mdeianoche, I enjoyed this book immensely. An elderly woman arrives at the orphanage with a girl of their age, the intriguing Sheere, and so begins a fantastical rollercoaster ride of an adventure.

But she knew his spirit was hunting his children to kill one of them.

Carter saw himself facing the man again, he was sure Aryami was telling the truth. He kept getting better and better until genius struck him with Shadow. The creepiness of the narrative that makes the hair at the back of my neck stand up on end.

The ending,on the other hand,I actually really liked. I’m quite glad I did, as The Midnight Palace is much better than its predecessor. It was a good conclusion to their journey. You must choose which one to belong to. The only reason that I am giving this book a star is because I happen to be a Zafon’s fan.

How can they believe one minute that the bad guy knows they are there, because the miniature train starts going around the tracks and has three miniature figures of them inside, and then the next minute feel they are safe enough to go to sleep in separate rooms?
